A few pictures of my informal celebration in 2004.
Actually it was on 31st October, the day after my birthday because I was busy playing in a tennis match on the 30th.
The tennis on Saturday wasn't successful on the scoresheet – I lost my doubles set 8-9, and my single 5-9.
The team lost, 1 set to 11. Our opponents displayed very good sportsmanship, so it was still fun.
Sunday morning and early afternoon were also good fun – I led the Webmaster's Run of the Hillman Car Club, through the
Adelaide Hills (with fantastic views of the Adelaide Plain),
and finishing at the Penfield Model Engineers Society.
Then at 3 pm, my parents & brother and about 30 of my friends from different organisations came to the party at the Islington church hall – Prospect Road Uniting Church, the Gideons, Hillman Car Club of SA, and BMW Owners Club of SA. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of the gathered crowd.
Mum baked a nice fruitcake, and Dad decorated it with icing. He usually makes the icing flowers also, but didn't
have time to do these.
Cards from Dad's 2 sisters (who were in poor health, so couldn't attend), and from many of the friends present.
Dad made 2 small photo displays.
My early childhood –
and my adult life – a collection of 1980s photos –
Dad made a speech, and congratulated me.
Then Mum & Dad joined me for a photo.
I cut the cake.
At the end, we got a picture of the family. (My brother Wayne hadn't been shown before).
